Hello. Welcome to Powerlifting.

Firstly, you may be thinking; what is Powerlifting? I will get to that in more detail below, but let me begin by telling you a little bit about me and my powerlifting journey.

I started competing back in 2015, after a personal trainer friend suggested that I give it a go. I wasn’t looking for Powerlifting, it found me. As shared in the About Us section, I started my fitness journey initially hating the gym! I worked for corporate companies in the medical field service & sales industry for 10 years, the nature of that job meant I was travelling on the road for hours in a day, therefore I needed a way to keep fit and moving. I found Pole Dancing first, which led me to find Powerlifting (weird route into Powerlifting I know!)

If you train as a Powerlifter, you will enjoy the process of getting strong, whilst undergoing an awesome body recomposition – ‘Hello muscles!’

I compete in the British Powerlifting Federation. British Powerlifting is a trading name of GB Powerlifting Federation Limited (GBPF). It is by far the largest powerlifting organisation in the UK. The GBPF is affiliated to the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) and the European Powerlifting Federation.

I compete in both Raw (Classic) & Equipped Powerlifting and represented Team GB multiple times in both disciplines. My achievements to date include: Multiple British Record holder, 5 x Raw English Champion, u72kg Commonwealth Champion, u76kg British Equipped Champion & European Bronze Medalist. Check out my instagram page @sheri_miles_

In addition to my lifting experience, I am a British Powerlifting National Referee & Level 1 Powerlifting Coach. Over the years, I have assisted with reffing, spotting, loading, commentating and coaching at many competitions, divisionally, nationally and internationally.  I am in the fortunate position to offer my services as a powerlifting coach, after years in the game, fitness instructing, experience with injury rehabilitation and self programming. WHAT IS POWERLIFTING

Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press and deadlift.

The best attempt from each lift is added together to make a total. 

In competition, lifts may be performed equipped or un-equipped (typically referred to as ‘raw’ lifting or ‘classic’ in the IPF specifically). Equipment in this context refers to a supportive bench shirt or squat/deadlift suit or briefs.
